We decided this week to have one final "hurrah!" to celebrate summer. Nick took Thursday and Friday off, and while we discussed the possibilities of skipping town, we settled on having a staycation. As I think back, it has kind of become tradition being as we've done it the last few years at the end of summer. Check out here and here. It's fun to check out the local attractions that for some reason, we don't seem to get around to on our typical schedule.
First on our agenda, go hiking:

Really, how lucky are we to have such beautiful things right here where we live! This hike was only a few miles from our house. I'm so glad we discovered it!
Next up, the County Fair:
Besides looking at animals and displays, we watched an "Equipment Rodeo" which is basically city teams doing feats with tractors and such (like picking up a golf ball with a spoon attatched to the bucket of an excavator). My boy enjoyed watching the tractors for a bit:
The girls did crafts:

It was a massive lego display with moving trains.
That evening we picked up pizza and watched a movie:
And then we set up the tent in the backyard where I got an awful night's rest.
Lainey seemed to do ok, though:

Good morning, sunshine.
We had a camp-style breakfast.
We played all day on Friday too, but I didn't take any photos, or even bring my camera for that matter. After a leisurely morning, we went to the Dinosaur Museum and then had lunch. We came home for naps, and then went swimming.
And now, we are all wasted. In fact, it is after 9 and Maren is still sleeping off the effects of too much play (being as my kids usually get up before 7, this is very unusual). It's a hard life.
